The Vice Presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress, NDC, Rabiu Kwankwaso, says there are dangers associated with the proposed creation of state police. Speaking with News Central TV on Thursday night, the national leader of the Kwankwassiyya Movement said governors will use the local police for their political gains. According to him, the state police would not have been needed if not for the leadership failure in the Northern part of the country. He said, “There is a huge leadership failure in Northern Nigeria. State police is as a result of that failure. “There are so many dangers associated with state police. The governors would want to use them for political protection. “The government must not allow the circulation of small arms just like that”.
