Penpushing Media, described as the first online newspaper to operate in Abeokuta, celebrated its 8th anniversary with a lecture and award ceremony centered on governance and public accountability. He noted the significance of hosting the event in Abeokuta, the birthplace of journalism in Nigeria since 1859. He disclosed that Penpushing Media has trained journalists nationwide with UNIC, hosted World Press Freedom Day webinars, and expanded into broadcasting with new equipment, a live streaming studio, and an online TV channel. The media house operates from Abeokuta with a branch office, and maintains links in Canada and the UK. The legal luminary and human rights activist spoke on the theme: “Restoring Electoral Integrity: The Path to Good Governance and Public Accountability.”
