7 discharged, acquitted of cultism charges in Ogun

An Abeokuta Special Anti-Cultism Court in Isabo, on Friday discharged and acquitted seven men charged with alleged cultism and public disorder.
The defendants are: Jinadu Azeez, 26; Olubiyi Sunday, 24; Kodaolu Oluwatobi, 34; Monday Abayomi, 27; Adegboyega Toheeb, 30; Adegbite Sulaiman, 26 and Ayobami Tunde, 27.
Daudu discharged and acquitted the seven men on all counts, citing lack of credible evidence from the prosecution.
Earlier, the Prosecutor ASP Olaide Rawling had told the court that the offences were allegedly committed between April 22 and April 23, 2024 at Galaxy Hotel , Vespa/Okenla Ifo Area, Abeokuta.
Rawling said the offences allegedly committed contravened sections 34, 36, 45(b) of the Prohibition of Forcible Entry and Occupation of Landed Properties, Armed Robbery, Cultism, Kidnapping and Other Anti-violent and Other Related Offences Law of Ogun 2006 and 70 of the Criminal Code Laws of Ogun.
