The Senate Majority PAC is investing an additional $17 million in Iowa, with plans to roll out a fall ad campaign criticizing U.S. Rep. Ashley Hinson's voting record in Congress as she runs for U.S. Senate. On the Democratic side, Iowa Rep. Josh Turek, D-Council Bluffs, defeated Iowa Sen. Zach Wahls, D-Coralville, to become the Democratic nominee for the seat. Senate Majority PAC spokesperson Lauren French said in a statement the ad investment is meant to highlight that Hinson has a track record of supporting her party, not Iowans' interest in elected office. The PAC also highlighted that Majority Forward, its affiliated nonprofit, has began an ad campaign in Iowa with videos focused on votes Hinson took related to healthcare costs. Hinson said in a statement, "I am proud to have cut taxes for hardworking Iowans.
