CONCEPCION “Ching” Alano, a former assistant lifestyle editor of the Philippine Star, died on July 17.
Alano died of lung cancer, the Star reported.
After retiring as assistant lifestyle editor in 2017, she continued contributing to the newspaper’s lifestyle section despite her battle with cancer.
Describing herself as an “old hand at newspapering,” Alano spent three decades at the Star writing about Philippine culture, the arts, the environment, and local cuisine.
In a Facebook post, the Ship for Southeast Asian and Japanese Youth Program International Philippines (SSEAYP International Philippines), in which Alano was among the pioneer participants, mourned her passing.
