Abu Dhabi — The United Arab Emirates strongly condemned Thursday’s Houthi attack on the Saudi-owned vessel ENCELIA while it was sailing in the Red Sea. In a statement, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the assault posed a “serious threat to the safety and security of international navigation” and represented a “dangerous escalation aimed at undermining the stability of vital global waterways.” The ministry urged the international community to ensure the enforcement of relevant UN Security Council resolutions, particularly Resolution 2216 on Yemen and Resolution 2722 on freedom of navigation in the Red Sea. It stressed that freedom of navigation in international waters is a right guaranteed under international law and the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea. The UAE reaffirmed its full solidarity with Saudi Arabia, pledging support for all measures necessary to safeguard the Kingdom’s security and stability.
