For the Blue River Watershed, development of an action plan has been underway since early 2025, with completion expected in fall 2026. The Blue River Wildfire Ready Action Plans is guided by stakeholders from local municipalities, ski areas, industry, utilities, and conservation nonprofit organizations. The fiscal agent for the plan is the Blue River Watershed Group, which applied for and holds the state grant and municipal, county, and private donor match funding. Leading the evaluation of this action plan is JW Associates, a Breckenridge firm that specializes in wildfire modeling and watershed health. iQRmageBarrett Friesen has a passion for protecting aquatic ecosystems and is the projects director at Blue River Watershed Group.
