There have been no new wildfire starts in the West Kootenay - Boundary section of the Southeast Fire Centre in the last day, but six of the 11 wildfires burning are still listed as out of control.
The Johnson Creek wildfire (one hectare) and the North Johnson Creek wildfire (.04 ha) are both lightning caused, and dropped onto the BCWS radar Saturday and Monday, respectively.
The lightning-caused wildfires — 35 kilometres north of Nelson and 25 km north of Highway 3A — had no area restrictions or evacuation alerts associated with them.
Boundary burnThe .009-ha lightning-caused Goatskin Creek wildfire — burning 100 km north of Grand Forks — is still considered out of control, but has no resources committed to it.
