Police say theft of and from vehicles remains a crime of opportunity, and simple precautions can prevent most incidents. RCMP advise keeping vehicles locked at all times, even when parked nearby at a campsite or trailhead. RCMP say these items can be used to steal a vehicle or gain access to a home. Officers suggest using hitch locks on trailers and installing motion-sensor lights around recreational vehicles to deter theft.
