On July 7, 2026, Strathcona County Council unanimously approved a building design to renovate and expand the Spruce Avenue Log Cabin seniors hub. The renovations will nearly double the facility’s usable space and position it to serve residents for years to come. It reaffirms that Council values and supports our senior population and is committed to an age-friendly community. Despite increasing total space, this option would still have been limited by the building’s existing footprint. Supporters of the approved plan argued that both alternatives would eventually require further expansion projects as demand for services continues to grow.
