In the last 6 months or so, I’ve had to change how I make contact with other journalists. Journalists typically want to be found. Responding to a climate of increasing political violence, the Columbia Journalism Review recently advised news organizations to go through a risk assessment. At the global level, the UN reissued its Plan of Action on the Safety of Journalists last year. As the station charts a path through federal funding cuts and the shrinking landscape of local journalism, I will continue to track down our journalist guests.
