Dane was slated to present an award alongside his Grey's Anatomy costar Jesse Williams at the Sept. 14 ceremony, but did not end up appearing onstage.
"ALS is a nasty disease," he told the outlet.

The actress and model married Dane in 2004, filed for divorce in 2018 and then called off the split seven years later, weeks before the actor revealed his diagnosis.
"ALS is the last thing they want to diagnose anybody with," Dane said in a TikTok video shared by U.S. Rep. Eric Swalwell of California.
