The Minister of Defence, retired Gen. Christopher Musa, has called for stronger collaboration between the military and the media to address Nigeria’s evolving security challenges. The minister said the media remained a critical partner in the fight against terrorism and other asymmetric threats, stressing that accurate and timely information was essential to national security. He urged defence correspondents to remain fair, balanced and professional, saying responsible journalism was vital to sustaining public confidence in the Armed Forces. Earlier, the President of DECAN, Odita, congratulated Musa on his appointment as Minister of Defence, describing it as a recognition of his professionalism and distinguished military career. He appealed for regular media engagements and timely access to defence information, saying closer collaboration would boost public confidence in the Armed Forces and promote patriotism.
