[]
PressRelease – Auckland.Scoop
New pedestrian bridges at Te Mahia and Takanini will also be completed over the coming month, marking the first stage of a programme to replace rail level crossings and prepare Auckland’s rail network for more frequent train services.
“Removing level crossings is essential to getting the full benefits of City Rail Link.
“Sixteen level crossings have been closed or replaced over the past decade, and this next stage of work will help Auckland get more out of its rail network.”
“These new pedestrian bridges improve safety for communities and will help support the increased train services Aucklanders can expect when City Rail Link opens.”
In February 2025, the Government and Auckland Council each confirmed $200 million in funding for the first three years of work.
