The disruption in liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply has affected households, transport, power plants, and industries across the country, with gas pressure falling sharply.
Foreign experts arrived yesterday to inspect the facility and ascertain the extent of the problem and the time required to restore gas supply.
They are responsible for maintenance, while we only oversee operations,” a Petrobangla official told The Daily Star.
The Daily Star contacted at least 15 household gas users in Dhaka, Gazipur, and Mymensingh, all of whom said they had been experiencing inadequate gas pressure throughout the day.
The latest crisis has once again exposed the vulnerability of Bangladesh’s gas supply system, which has come to depend on 30 percent supply from the two floating terminals.
