ENTERPRISE — Starting Saturday, Oct. 4, and continuing through the end of the season on Oct. 31, anglers on the Snake River from Hells Canyon Dam downstream to the Oregon/Washington border can keep wild adult chinook salmon. Oregon and Idaho officials closed fishing for wild chinook in mid September due to a slower-than-expected return of wild chinook to the Snake River. With cooler water, chinook are beginning to move upstream. “This reopening reflects improved in-river conditions and passage at mainstem Columbia and Snake River dams along with careful management with our tribal and state partners,” said Kyle Bratcher, ODFW district fish biologist in Enterprise. The daily bag limit for adult chinook is three fish.
