A Russian missile attack against a cargo ship off the coast of Odessa, Ukraine, has killed 10 people, in the latest escalation of war between the two nations that is threatening maritime trade through the Black Sea. The vessel was said to have been using a maritime export corridor to move cargo down the Romanian and Bulgarian coastlines to Turkey. Nearly 30 people have been killed in Russian strikes in the Odessa region in July, although the July 19 attack was the deadliest of its kind so far. Russian attacks on shipping in the Black Sea have also ramped up in recent weeks, with Ukraine's drone forces commander Robert Brovdi reporting that 183 vessels have been struck in July alone. In a statement shortly after the July 19 missile attack, Ukrainian Prime Minister Serhiy Koretskyi said that the country's government and military command were working on ways to better safeguard civilian vessels and seafarers.
