The Today show has seriously ramped up its security protocols after an intruder’s violent attack on co-anchor Craig Melvin. The attack occurred earlier this week when 41-year-old Andrew Truelove allegedly bypassed security at 30 Rock’s Studio 1A and lunged at the anchor while yelling a racist slur. Melvin and longtime weather anchor Al Roker, whom the attacker was looking for, have since filed a restraining order against Truelove. “We wanted to reach out with an important update regarding studio access for ‘Today’ interviews,” the email began. “NBC and Today take the safety and security of our employees, talent, staff and guests extremely seriously.”
