Congressman Eric Burlison, R-Mo., said Tuesday that Democrats are using a potential government shutdown as a leveraging tool to get what they want despite them not being in the majority. "They're trying to use the government shutdown as a leveraging tool against really what the American people voted for," Burlison said on the "Just the News, No Noise" TV show. President Donald Trump on Tuesday announced that he would not meet with congressional Democrats, citing what he called their "unserious and ridiculous demands" to avert a government shutdown. Burlison said some of the Democrats' demands included undoing everything in Trump's "big beautiful bill," and reversing actions regarding biological men in women's sports. The House passed a short-term stopgap funding measure last week, but the Senate failed to follow suit.
