By Phillip SchliesFARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) – Fargo residents could see their monthly utility bills climb by nearly $15 next year if the city moves forward with proposed rate increases discussed during a budget workshop this week.
City staff met Wednesday, July 22, for the 2026 budget workshop, where they presented a combined $14.77 per month increase across multiple utilities for 2027, covering water, wastewater, storm sewer, forestry, and a new standalone charge tied to the Red River Valley Water Supply Project.
Previously, costs associated with the project were folded into the general water rate.
City staff said the project has grown to a point where it needs its own line item.
“It’s kind of the point we should separate those into two different things,” Troy Hall the Water Utility Director explained during the workshop.
