JACKSON, Tenn. — The 14th annual Celebrity Golf Classic sponsored by the Jackson-Madison County African American Chamber of Commerce swung into action Tuesday morning at the Bent Tree Golf Club. Celebrity golfers included Ed “Too Tall” Jones, formerly of the Dallas Cowboys, AJ Merriweather, local entrepreneur and formerly with the Harlem Globetrotters, and Avery Williamson, formerly with the Tennessee Titans. This event is a fundraiser for the “Follow Me Into Business” program. This program benefits youth in our community by providing leadership skills, job training workshops, internships, and summer jobs for eligible students. Teach them some of the soft skills that they need to be able to function, and many of them, it’s the first time that they have ever had that work experience,” said Don McCorry, executive director for the Jackson-Madison County County African American Chamber of Commerce.
