Catholic Sisters Pledge Closer Collaboration with AMECEA in Synodal Journey with Young People
['Nicholas Waigwa']

"ACWECA and AMECEA share a profound history of ecclesial collaboration.
Expressing confidence in the fruits of closer collaboration, the Ugandan-born ACWECA President and Superior General of OLGC added, "We can build stronger, more resilient bridges of hope for our youth."
She pledged ACWECA's "continued partnership, prayers, and collaborative ministry" to help translate the resolutions of the 21st AMECEA Plenary Assembly into concrete pastoral action in local communities across the region.
The regional association of Catholic Sisters in Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia, with those in Zimbabwe as associate members was inspired by the 1973 Plenary Assembly of AMECEA.
ACWECA’s pioneer members, then known as “AMECEA Sisters”, held their first conference in Nairobi in 1974.
