In his statement to al-Yawm al-Sabi‘ (Youm7), Dr. Saʿd al-Rumayḥī, president of the Qatari Center for Journalism, affirmed Egypt’s vital role in curbing Israel’s continued hostility and aggression, a role rooted in its Arab and international standing, its historical legacy in the Arab-Israeli conflict, and its extensive military capabilities. Egypt is expected to play a key role in halting the Israeli assault in the area and in pressing for a ceasefire in Gaza, as well as facilitating the delivery of humanitarian aid to the population. Egypt’s vital role in the region is widely acknowledged, particularly in fostering peace and stability and in restraining military escalation to allow diplomacy to take its course.
