The practice of implementation science can help translate clinical trial findings into routine healthcare according to new analysis, which suggests training trial staff to use its technique would pay dividends. “Implementation science can be applied to the clinical trial context, to better understand and improve how evidence is adopted and adapted in practice. The authors wrote, “Over 80% believed competency in implementation science will become essential to the clinical trial workforce in the future. “Training interests were moderate to high, particularly on embedding implementation science in trial design, recruitment strategies, sustainment, and scalability,” they continued. Including core competencies in implementation science and practice aligned with research design, feasibility and trial conduct may act as a lever to bring implementation science to the research pipeline through capacity and capability building.”
