State utility regulators are raising questions about Central Maine Power’s proposal to increase the average residential electric bill by roughly $11 per month.
According to WGME, in an initial review, the Maine Public Utilities Commission said CMP had not provided enough evidence to support several portions of its rate request.
The review does not represent a final decision on CMP’s request, and it does not automatically reject the proposed rate hike.
The case will continue through the Public Utilities Commission’s review process before regulators determine whether any increase should be approved.
Regulators have not yet announced when they expect to issue a final ruling on the rate request.
