President Donald Trump on Monday strongly asserted that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu would not face arrest while in the United States in September as New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani reportedly weighs options to bring him into custody. The International Criminal Court (ICC) previously issued an arrest warrant for Netanyahu amid the Gaza conflict. The U.S. is not party to the Rome statute and is under no obligation to arrest Netanyahu. "Benjamin Netanyahu will not be arrested, in any way, shape, or form, while in the United States of America," Trump posted on Truth Social. Mamdani's authority and ability to arrest Netanyahu without the consent of Washington, D.C., is dubious at best.
