Tamils from across Europe gathered in Brussels, Belgium, on 22 June for the annual Urimaikkaha Ezhu Tamila protest, reaffirming calls for the liberation of Tamil Eelam, justice for the Tamil genocide and the right of the Tamil nation to self-determination. The day began with a march through the streets of Brussels, accompanied by drums, slogans and the Tamil Eelam national flag. Tributes were then paid to Tamil martyrs and civilians who lost their lives during the Tamil Eelam national struggle, with floral tributes laid and a moment of silence observed. The central message throughout the protest was the responsibility of Tamil youth to continue advancing the Tamil cause on international platforms. The Tamil Youth Organization said,"Youth representatives reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring that the history, rights and aspirations of the Tamil nation are not forgotten."
