President Beth Bodensteiner said the new staterooms are being added due to their popularity on other ships in the fleet. In a first for Holland America, these new cabins will introduce balconies for solo travelers, addressing the demand for premium accommodations. The new Solo Verandahs will address this trend not only with a private balcony but also with a new design that caters to the needs of these guests. Bodensteiner said the 30 Solo Verandahs will be added to the Oosterdam and dynamic pricing will be used for bookings of the new rooms. “I anticipate pretty strong demand, but I think that they will end up being a better value for our solo travelers than what they have today.”
