Investing.com -- U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer said Tuesday that the Trump administration's tariffs on Canada are a "targeted measure" to counter Ottawa's trade moves, according to a CNBC interview.
Greer said Canada gives other countries better deals and that the action is tailored.
He said Trump wants the deficit to go down and that the U.S. wants more auto manufacturing in the country.
Energy, potash, products already subject to Section 232 tariffs, fish, and critical minerals are exempt from the new tariffs.
