The Mount Vernon City Council voted on July 13 to approve its first guaranteed maximum price package of $.6.58 million for site work and some equipment with long lead times for the Mount Vernon Police Station project.
"This first GMP (guaranteed maximum price) constitutes some early site work that's necessary to activate the site and to take advantage of the favorable summer weather.
According to the video recording, Parks said the construction manager, CK Construction of Westerville, Ohio, understands that Mount Vernon has established a not-to-exceed budget number for the project.
Parks said the contractor's construction schedule assumes activating the site on July 20 to keep to that schedule, according to the video recording.
According to a video recording of the meeting, Council member James Mahan said the initial $29 million project estimate has come down through value management discussions.
