There's a lot of relief cracking and just really bad wear, and we're having struggles with edge retention there. Platt said they are struggling to get the work done this year to prevent additional damage from freeze-thaw over the winter. Platt said he made a full presentation to the Ohio Department of Transportation in an application for a $1.6 million Small City Grant to fund improvements on federal aid routes, which includes Edgewood Road, parts of Mount Vernon Avenue, South Division Street and West Chestnut Street. The Gay Street parking lot, Spice Alley, and Venture Drive were completed with full-depth replacement, with Venture Drive also getting curb and gutter work. Vernonview, Teryl, Highland, Northridge, Clearview, and Oakway Drive had mill and fill work completed, as did East Chestnut Street and Martinsburg Road.
