Two Air National Guard commanders fired for ‘loss of confidence’

The top wing commander in the Wyoming Air National Guard and a senior group commander were fired from their positions July 17 by the unit’s commanding general, state officials said.
Col. Lawrence Sullivan was fired at the same time from command of the 153rd Operations Group, which directly oversees the daily flight operations for the Wyoming Air National Guard.
Diehl, according to an online resume, spent much of his flying career as an airlift pilot in the Wyoming Air Guard.
He transferred to the Air Force in 1998, where he spent close to two decades flying Air Force search and rescue helicopters in the New York Air National Guard.
Gen. Barry Deibert, did not specify why the two commanders were relieved, but included a statement that “Air National Guard leaders are held to the highest standards of professional conduct, responsibility and reliability.
