Mbugua said the Church also needs to make Catholic Social Teaching more accessible to young people by taking it beyond seminaries and theology classrooms into the spaces where the youth live, study, and interact. Mbugua recommended deliberate leadership development programmes to empower young people, the establishment of professional counselling and rehabilitation centres, stronger government legislation, and initiatives aimed at peacebuilding and conflict prevention. AMECEA comprises nine countries, including Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia. Referring to the Synod on Young People convened by the late Pope Francis, Fr. Mbugua said that although the Synod focused primarily on people aged between 16 and 29, it remained attentive to the diverse realities facing young people across the world.
