The press watchdog has expressed concern over the ‘conduct’ of a regional daily in covering a fatal stabbing on its patch. The Norwich Evening News published a report into the incident last November headlined “Terrified neighbours describe shock after fatal stabbing of pensioner in own home.” It quoted a neighbour as saying that Ms Holmwood, 75, had hosted a number of lodgers, “sometimes young men, sometimes old.” On the complaint under Clause 4, the Committee said the comments related to the complainant’s private life and were “potentially reputationally damaging.” The Committee also expressed concerns with the publication’s conduct – both in its editorial process, and in its handling of the complaint.
