The national average price per gallon of diesel gasoline increased for the second straight week, following nine weeks of declines, according to data issued today by the Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration (EIA).
For the week of July 20, the national average price per gallon increased 33.8-cents, coming in at $5.134, marking the third-highest weekly increase on record (and matching the week of June 9, 2008), since EIA first began collecting this data.
Prior to the week of May 4, the highest average price in any week since came during the week of May 9, 2022, when it was at $5.623 per gallon.
On an annual basis, the national average price per gallon is up $1.322, ahead of the $1.058 reading a week ago at this time.
The average price per barrel of WTI Crude is at $85.25, topping $80 a week ago and $70.37 two weeks ago.
