Shafaqna English- Researchers recently demonstrated that omega-3 fish oil might effectively combat insulin resistance in individuals who do not struggle with obesity.
By studying non-obese diabetic rats, the team discovered that consistent supplementation significantly improves blood sugar regulation, cholesterol levels, and systemic inflammation.
This finding highlights a previously overlooked connection between immune system function and diabetes management outside the context of excess body weight.
The study reveals that omega-3 fatty acids actively modulate the immune system by shifting defense cells, known as lymphocytes, from a harmful pro-inflammatory state to a protective anti-inflammatory one.
While these results stem from preclinical models, they suggest that targeting inflammation through dietary supplementation offers a promising new pathway for treating type 2 diabetes in non-obese patients.
