Shafaqna English- Three sources familiar with the matter, who work in the trading and energy sectors, have informed Reuters that Egypt is currently engaged in discussions with prominent international energy corporations – including Shell, TotalEnergies, and BP – concerning a long-term arrangement. Under this proposed deal, Egypt would purchase between 15 and 18 cargoes of liquefied natural gas every month, with the contract extending for no less than three years. These negotiations are occurring against a backdrop of mounting challenges for Egypt. On the one hand, domestic natural gas production is increasingly unable to satisfy the country’s growing energy needs. On the other hand, the global LNG market is experiencing persistent tightness as a result of the conflict involving Iran.
