Mon, July 21 (MExN): The Nagaland government has released Rs 70 lakh as ex-gratia and immediate relief assistance for families affected by the devastating landslides and flash floods that struck Mon district on July 19 and 20.
Chief Minister Dr Neiphiu Rio, who visited the affected sites on July 20, has separately extended Rs 10 lakh to civil societies, the district hospital, and local volunteers supporting government-led search and rescue operations, Konyak added.
The extreme weather event has claimed nine lives and left several others injured, besides causing widespread destruction to residential houses, roads, bridges and other public infrastructure across the district.
Expressing profound grief over the tragedy, the DC conveyed condolences to the bereaved families and assured that the district administration stands firmly with every affected family.
The district administration remains committed to ensuring timely relief, rehabilitation, and restoration for all affected communities and will continue to closely monitor the situation, Konyak said.
