The Asaba Drug Rehabilitation Centre is set to commence operations following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the palace of the Asagba of Asaba and the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Asaba. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the centre was established to tackle drug addiction among youths and other residents through treatment, counselling and rehabilitation services. Leading a delegation to the palace on Tuesday, the Medical Director of FMC, Asaba, Dr Ekeneam Omo, described the initiative as timely and pledged the hospital’s unwavering commitment to its success. Omo commended the Asagba of Asaba, Prof. Epiphany Azinge, and members of the Drug Rehabilitation Committee for confronting drug abuse, describing their efforts as a genuine concern for vulnerable youths. NAN reports that the ceremony concluded with the signing of the MoU by representatives of the Asagba’s palace and FMC, Asaba.
