It was almost 7 p.m. on July 3 when Cooper Clark hooked a fish that he hoped was a bluefin tuna. Learning that their fish could be a state record, the crew iced Cooper’s catch and weighed it the next day at Sunset Marina. The 36-inch-long fish was 28.2 pounds, and now has been accepted as a new state record for the species. The IGFA all-tackle world record is 37 pounds. “I’m checking into having a mount made of the fish, because a state record fish doesn’t come along every day.”
