PRETORIA - Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC) head Advocate Andrea Johnson says the charges against Lieutenant-General Dumisani Khumalo depict “state capture”, “fraud” and “corruption”.
When looked at holistically, the cases depict state capture, fraud, corruption and defeating the ends of justice."
The cases against Khumalo and his co-accused were referred to IDAC by MP Fadiel Adams in November 2024.
Khumalo was arrested in June 2025 on fraud and corruption charges linked to the appointment of Brigadier Dineo Mokwele.
Johnson also dismissed suggestions that Khumalo was arrested because he coordinated the Political Killings Task Team, saying IDAC had no knowledge of that role at the time.
