Netflix has announced that the fifth and final season of Outer Banks will debut Aug. 20, bringing an end to the streaming hit’s six-year run. Series creators Josh Pate, Jonas Pate and Shannon Burke have previously said the show was always envisioned as a five-season story. Production on the final season wrapped in late 2025, with the creative team promising an emotional and action-filled farewell. Since premiering in 2020, Outer Banks has become one of Netflix’s most successful young-adult dramas, building a devoted global fan base through its blend of treasure hunts, friendship and mystery. The final season aims to bring the Pogues’ journey to a definitive close when the series returns in August.
