32 logistics center in Seoknam-dong (석남동), Seo-gu, Incheon, burned for 61 hours over the weekend of July 18 before firefighters brought it under control on Monday evening.
The center covers about 299,000 square meters, which Korean outlets described as roughly 42 football fields, making it more than twice the size of the Coupang warehouse that burned in 2021.
The Incheon center is about 2.3 times larger by floor area, which is why early estimates are running high even without a survey.
The Incheon center held not only Coupang's own directly purchased stock but also goods from merchants using Rocket Growth (로켓그로스), the service where a third-party seller ships inventory into a Coupang warehouse and Coupang handles storage, packing, and Rocket delivery.
Coupang carries comprehensive property insurance on the Incheon center, co-underwritten by several insurers, with total coverage reported in the hundreds of billions of won.
