More than one million women and girls have lost access to lifesaving humanitarian services since January 2025, according to the new UN Women report, Beyond the Breaking Point, released on 10 July 2026.
72 per cent of organisations report cuts to livelihoods and economic empowerment programmes, 62 per cent report cuts to safe spaces and women's centres, and 61 per cent report cuts to gender-based violence case management.
Meanwhile, 86 per cent of organisations report rising gender-based violence in the communities they serve, 92 per cent report rising poverty among women and girls, and 82 per cent report more girls dropping out of school.
