The reckless use of scrambler bikes has become an increasingly familiar feature in parts of the north. Whatever opinions exist about policing, there can be no justification for attacks that leave officers injured and vehicles damaged. Nor should intimidation and disorder be allowed to dictate who can safely use public roads or move freely through their own neighbourhoods. Political representatives, community leaders, youth organisations and the PSNI must work together with determination and consistency rather than reacting only when disorder erupts. They deserve streets where children can play safely, older people can walk without fear and businesses can operate without disruption.
