Millions of fans took to the streets across Spain on Monday evening to celebrate the national team’s 1-0 World Cup final victory over Argentina.
Two million people, according to Madrid government data, poured into the capital’s avenues during Monday afternoon to welcome the champions, who toured the city on an open-top bus to celebrate the second world title.
Local Police, Civil Guard, Fire Brigade, and Health Emergency Services attended the site, which remains cordoned off under investigation.
The second death occurred in Sonseca, Toledo, where a 20-year-old suffered seizures at 11:16 PM while watching the match broadcast in Plaza de la Virgen, with 112 Emergency services unable to revive him.
Local authorities declared three days of official mourning and flew flags at half-staff.
