Provides Rs 2 lakh free life cover to breadwinnersKohima, July 20 (MExN): The Finance Department, Government of Nagaland has notified a revised framework for the Chief Minister's Life Insurance Scheme (CMLIS) for 2026-27, extending free life insurance cover to eligible household breadwinners across the state along with accidental insurance protection for breadwinners and up to three family members. Cases of accidental dismemberment and paralysis will be covered up to Rs 2 lakh, while partial disability claims will be eligible for coverage up to Rs 1 lakh, it said. The upper age limit for life insurance, however, has been relaxed for serving government employees not covered under the State Government Salary Package. Accredited journalists working within the state have been made eligible, subject to portal validation, it said. Detailed operational guidelines covering registration, portal validation, enrolment and the broader implementation architecture will be issued separately by the Finance Department in due course, it added.
