Mayoral candidate Jamie Lowery says North Bay city council has repeatedly shut down attempts to scrutinize municipal finances, pledging transparency and accountability if elected. Lowery said he’s making decisions based on people who live in North Bay and how they’re going to be served. A closed-meeting investigator, Tony E. Fleming, determined that the North Bay council breached closed meeting requirements by taking a council meeting into a private session when they shouldn’t have. Lowery came to North Bay in 2014 when he moved from Southern Ontario to become the CEO of Cassellholme. “We’ve been coming to North Bay since 1987, my wife’s family has had businesses here since 1963.”
