SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has sanctioned the reappointment of Dr Waseem Raja as Assistant Professor (Botany) following directions issued by the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, withdrawing an earlier order that had cancelled his appointment. 199-JK(HE) of 2026, dated July 6, 2026, issued by the Higher Education Department, Dr Raja has been reappointed under the Open Merit (OM) category against an available vacancy. Based on the revised recommendation, the department issued a show-cause notice to Dr Raja on August 3, 2023. Dr Raja later initiated contempt proceedings before the High Court. The High Court further noted that the PSC was required to accommodate the successful petitioners without disturbing Dr Raja’s appointment.
