Pingtai Rong did not specify whether the firm is the sole investor in the project nor has it disclosed the exact location of the project. Such examples of Chinese investment underway in Africa include Chinese-led refurbishment of the Beira Fishing Port in Mozambique, with the China Export Import Bank lending USD 120 million (EUR 105.7 million) to the Mozambican government for the port. In exchange for the investment, Chinese fishing companies operate out of the port. Chinese-built port infrastructure projects have drawn criticism in the past for hosting distant-water vessels with histories of IUU infractions.
